De Cultuurwerkplaats Tarwewijk is een culturele vrijplaats in het hart van de Tarwewijk, in Rotterdam Zuid - een plek waar het leven in de wijk en artistieke praktijk elkaar ontmoeten.

Voor South Explorer presenteren we twee kunstenaars wier werk niet meer van elkaar kon verschillen in materiaal en stemming. Toch putten beiden uit iets dieps en blijvends: de natuurlijke wereld in al haar textuur, en de menselijke wereld in al haar gewicht.

MILLINXPARKGROEP: Uiteenlopend werk zoals schilderingen en tekeningen, mixed media met de natuur als belangrijke inspiratiebron.
Materiaal: verf, kartonsoorten, papiersoorten, wol, houtskool ,conté krijt en mozaïek.

Cultuurwerkplaats Tarwewijk is a community and cultural hub in the heart of Tarwewijk, Rotterdam Zuid - a place where neighbourhood life and artistic practice meet. For South Explorer we present two artists whose work couldn't be more different in material and mood, yet both draw from something deep and persistent: the natural world in all its texture, and the human world in all its weight.


MILLINXPARKGROEP: paintings, drawings, mixed media with Nature as the main source of inspiration. Materials: paint, paper, cardboard, wool, charcoal, conté chalk, and mosaic.


ASJA SHKOLNA: A tragic Ukrainian (hi)story is an ongoing series in which photography, poetry and film come together to tell the story of a repeating history.  Asja's work shows how rape is used as a weapon by the Russian army to break the strong spirit of Ukrainian women and children. And how this intergenerational trauma repeats itself over and over again. From grandmother to mother to daughter.
