South Explorer Invites: Open Call

South Explorer Invites brengt veertien makers samen voor een eendaagse showcase met kunst, performances, workshops en eten. Je dwaalt langs verschillende praktijken, raakt in gesprek met kunstenaars en krijgt een voorproefje van het jaarlijkse South Explorer-weekend in juni.

Tijdens Rotterdam Art Week neemt South Explorer Invites Plein, Fenix over met een showcase van artistiek talent uit Rotterdam Zuid. South Explorer verbindt kunstenaars in Rotterdam Zuid met elkaar en met publiek. Vanuit die gedachte ontstaat een programma waarin ontmoeting centraal staat.

Rotterdam Zuid kent een brede creatieve community. Kunstenaars van verschillende leeftijden en herkomsten werken er aan uiteenlopende praktijken. Tijdens deze dag krijg je een inkijkje in die veelzijdigheid.

Ontdek kunst in verschillende vormen: van fotografie en video tot breien en borduren. Woon live optredens bij, schuift aan bij workshops en proeft gerechten van een lokaal kunstenaarscollectief. We sluiten de dag af met een borrel, een goede gelegenheid om de kunstenaars te ontmoeten en met andere bezoekers in gesprek te gaan.

Through our open call, we selected fourteen artists from Rotterdam South to share their practice during this showcase.

South Explorer Invites brings together fourteen makers for a one-day showcase featuring art, performances, workshops, and food. You wander through different practices, engage in conversation with artists, and get a preview of the annual South Explorer weekend in June.

During Rotterdam Art Week, South Explorer Invites takes over Fenix Plein with a showcase of artistic talent from Rotterdam South. South Explorer connects artists in Rotterdam South with each other and with the public. From this idea emerges a program in which encounter and exchange take center stage.

Rotterdam South has a broad creative community. Artists of different ages and backgrounds work there on a wide range of practices. During this day you will get a glimpse of that diversity.

Discover art in many forms: from photography and video to knitting and embroidery.
Attend live performances, join workshops, and taste dishes by a local artists’ collective.
We will close the day with drinks, a great opportunity to meet the artists and start conversations with other visitors.
